Desolation and hope reside on the same contour this time of year. Haggard nailed it: If we make it through December everything’s going to be alright I know.

Jenna,

Thank you for kindling those childhood memories of Christmases past. As I was reading your essay my mind reach back to that green Columbia three star deluxe bike — the one dad said “maybe next year.” But there it was, standing beside our Christmas tree. It made an impression. Who knew that impression would last a lifetime?

May your Christmas be magical & memorable. Thank you & please keep writing.

This is a very lovely thing to say. I didn't hear from you after the last post to I thought I'd lost you. Thank you, as always, for your support and encouragement. It means the world. Merry Christmas! I hope it's the kind of celebration worthy of a green Columbia three star deluxe.

Thank you for giving new life to those memories. Ours may not be exactly the same, but the sentiment of family, love, peace, and wonder are shared with fondness. "He restores my soul."

This is so sweet and savory. I loved it, Jenna. It marks a wondrous inner life, too, but not one of confection. One can see your firm grounding in reality, even as you guide readers to appreciate their memories.. that ribbon candy and candied fruit slices REALLY take me back to my great aunties’ house in the early sixties.
